HealthCap Announces New Acquisitions
Two Outpatient Cancer Treatment Centers in Southeastern US
DALLAS (December 22, 2014) – HealthCap, a national healthcare private equity and real estate investment firm, is pleased to announce that it recently purchased two new medical office buildings in the southeastern United States. The Greenville Health System Eastside Cancer Institute building is a 31,000 square foot facility located in Greenville, South Carolina. Originally constructed in 1998, it has been continuously operated by Greenville Health System (“GHS”) and its predecessor entities as an outpatient cancer treatment center. The fully-leased, off-campus facility resides just under a mile from GHS’s 78-bed Patewood Memorial Hospital campus and one-half mile from the campus of Bon Secours Health System’s 93-bed St. Francis Eastside Hospital. The building provides a mix of cancer treatment services including radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hematology / medical oncology, clinical research trails and onsite lab and chemotherapy compounding.
HealthCap also recently purchased another stand-alone outpatient cancer building in Fort Myers, Florida. The 5,600 square foot property is HealthCap’s second property acquisition in the Lee County, Florida market area, and it is 100%-leased by Florida Cancer Affiliates, a division of U.S. Oncology and its parent company, McKesson Corp. HealthCap purchased the building while it was still in the midst of an extensive exterior and interior renovation and oversaw completion of construction post-closing. Originally built in the late 1990’s as a dialysis center, the property was redeveloped to the tenant’s specifications and now serves as a modern and convenient location for patients seeking cancer treatment. The facility features 5 exams rooms, onsite lab, pharmacy, chemotherapy compounding, and an 18-station chemotherapy infusion area. The property was acquired by the second in series of healthcare real estate private equity funds sponsored and managed by HealthCap.
